ABOUT ME

I'm a Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology at Beloit College. I am a forest ecologist broadly interested in the ecological processes that are shaping forest communities and the drivers of tree demography in the context of biotic interactions, changing environments, and shifting disturbance regimes. I use a mix of field work, sequencing, trait-based approaches, and big data synthesis to bridge both the above- and belowground contexts to answer my research questions. In my teaching, I am passionate about helping students develop critical thinking skills and intellectual independence that make them strong contributors both in and out of the classroom.
